Matching Donations

Make Your Gift Go Further!

Did you know that many companies offer employee matching gift programs ? These programs are an excellent way to double, triple, or even quadruple your donations to the American Dog Society (ADS) with just a little extra effort.
See if your employer will match your donation!

What Are Employee Match Programs?

Employee match programs are corporate benefits designed to encourage charitable giving. They work by matching your donation to a nonprofit organization, often dollar for dollar. Some companies even match two-to-one or three-to-one, which means your donation can be worth two to four times more! For example, if you donate $100 to ADS and your company has a one-to-one match, ADS will receive $200. Imagine how much more impact your donation can have when matched by your employer!

Taking Advantage of Your Employee Match

Engaging with your company’s matching gift program is simple and can make a big difference for ADS. Here’s how to get started:
  1. Learn the Rules: Each company has different rules for their matching gift programs. Some companies only match donations to specific nonprofits, while others allow donations to any charity. There may also be an annual limit on matching gifts. To find out how your company’s program works, contact your Human Resources (HR) department or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team.
  2. Ask About Volunteer Time Matching: Some companies don’t just match cash donations—they also match time! If you volunteer with ADS, your company may offer a donation based on the number of hours you spend helping us. Be sure to ask if your company allows employees to volunteer with local organizations and whether paid volunteer hours are eligible for matching gifts.
  3. Dot the I’s and Cross the T’s: Typically, you’ll need a receipt as proof of your donation and a form requesting the matching donation. Make sure to submit these documents to the appropriate department in your company (usually HR or CSR). Always confirm with them that the match was made to ensure ADS gets the full benefit of your contribution.

What Is Workplace Giving?

Workplace giving is an easy and impactful way for employees to contribute to causes they care about, like ADS. It includes:
  • Employee Donations: You donate to ADS, and your company matches your gift.
  • Workplace Fundraisers: Many companies organize workplace fundraising campaigns for charitable causes.
  • Advocacy Campaigns: Encouraging colleagues to give or volunteer.
  • Matching Gift Programs: Your company matches your charitable donations, often up to a set limit.
